The hilt of the hanger consists of an octagonal brass pommel and a (51mm wide) flat crosspiece with inversed disc ends. The hanger has a fluted wooden grip- which is now cracked. There is provision for a chain knuckle-guard- which is missing. The hanger has a straight steel blade with a single groove near the flat back. The blade is very rusty and the point is missing. The blade is engraved- but it is too rusty to decipher the engraving. The scabbard is missing.
