| omschrijving | Curved bladed dirk- the hilt of the dirk is gilt and consists of inversed quillons- which are embossed with acanthus leaves. The dirk has a lion's-head pommel and a knurled ivory grip. The steel blade is curved. The brown leather scabbard is decorated with tooling and has two gilt lockets- with rings to both lockets and a frog stud to the upper one and a gilt chape. The reverse of the upper locket is engraved with the words 'Read Sword Cutler Portsmo'. It is thought that the dirk is early in date- as evidenced by the not-too-sophisticated form of the curved blade.
