omschrijving | A sketch of the sea, probably made while the artist was at Corbiere in Jersey. Everett painted a large number of sketches showing the movement of waves approaching and breaking close to shore. The crests of the waves are painted with thick lightly toned paint and have been shaped to show they have turned to spray in the wind. The sea is shown as short brush strokes of green, grey, purple and blue. Everett experimented with colour and form to achieve the closely observed effects he sought. He was equally concerned with the effects of light and representations of light in the sky and the relationship between the sea and the sky. Everett was at Corbiere from 13 January to 6 February 1928, painting the constantly changing appearance of sea and sky. The artist's monogram is shown bottom right, and 'Jersey' is inscribed verso.
