omschrijvingA powerful sketch showing the relationship between sea, sky and land which was made while the artist was at Corbiere in Jersey. He has focused on the power and movement of the sea by emphasizing the peaks and troughs, and using thick white paint to show the crests. A vivid rainbow diagonally intersects the sky. This creates a division in the sky between the darkness over the sea and the lighter appearance over the headland on the right, implying a numinous response from the artist to the viewer. Everett was at Corbiere from 13 January to 6 February 1928, painting the constantly changing appearance of sea and sky. The painting is inscribed with the artist's monogram bottom right, and 'Jersey' verso.
