The ship's mast, shrouds, and a drum are shown, with a fort in the background. The portrait is inscribed 'L'Amiral Napier'.
The decorative border of the plate is printed with the British royal coat of arms, an eagle shield and two pairs of classical warriors, one with a Union Flag shield inscribed 'Dieu et mon droit', and the other an eagle shield inscribed ‘Empire France’.
