omschrijvingSalver presented to Lieutenant R. Pote-Hunt on his retirement as Admiralty Yangtse River Pilot, 1937. The inscribed silver salver on three stud feet has a shaped border with inscription In the centre: 'TO R. POTE-HUNT ESQ. O.B.E. AS A TOKEN OF APPRECIATION ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER OVER THIRTY SEVEN YEARS SERVICE AS ADMIRALTY PILOT FROM THE COMMANDERS IN CHIEF REAR ADMIRALS YANGSTSE CAPTAINS AND OFFICERS IN THE CHINA FLEET ALL OF WHOM AT SOME TIME AND SOME OF THEM MANY TIMES HE HAS PILOTED UP AND DOWN THE YANGSTSE APRIL 1900-OCTOBER 1937'. This is surrounded by the names of 146 ships arranged alphabetically. It is stamped on the base 'The Alex Clark Co.Ltd.'. The salver has an original oriental wooden stand (PLT0171.1).
