omschrijvingTeapot owned by Horatia Nelson (1801-81) daughter of Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson. Oval silver-gilt teapot decorated with a floral band, with a long curved cut-away spout, with a strainer inside, an angular ivory handle, and a hinged lid with an oval ivory knop. One side of the body is inscribed above the band: 'FROM MRS BOLTON TO HORATIA'. Below the band is a wreath surrounding an initial 'N' with a viscount's coronet. The other side has a similar wreath with an initial 'B' and a duke's coronet. Susannah Bolton was Lord Nelson's sister and Horatia's aunt. The teapot, together with a non-matching silver-gilt cream jug and sugar basin (PLT0162, PLT0163) was presented to the NMM in 1939 by the Reverend Hugh Nelson-Ward and his late brother Admiral Philip Nelson-Ward, grandsons of Horatia.
