omschrijvingGoblet presented in 1807 by Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson's daughter Horatia Nelson (1801-81). A plain goblet standing on a circular foot, with a reeded border to the foot. The goblet is gilt inside, and is engraved on one side: 'From Horatia Nelson To Her kind Friend & Pastor, THE REVD. MR. LANCASTER, In grateful remembrance of his Fatherly attentions to her instruction in early Piety and Religion. Octr 29th 1807.' 29 October was the date given by Lady Hamilton as Horatia's birthday, although it was actually circa 29 January 1801. The goblet was purchased at Sotheby's on 30 April 1936 by Sir Percy Malcolm-Stewart for the NMM.
