omschrijving | Bogus goblet said to have been owned by Lord Nelson.
Silver goblet with gilt inside, standing on a stem and round foot, and decorated overall with vines and scrolls. One side is engraved with a cartouche surrounding the bogus arms of Nelson, with an earl's coronet, the motto 'PALMAM QUI MERUIT FERAT' and the chelengk and 'San Josef' crests, but no Trafalgar augmentation. The other side is engraved in cursive script with an impossibly dated inscription: 'To Admiral Viscount Nelson from a lover of Chivalry. May you always find refreshing consolation in this cup. K.C. May 2d 1799'.
