omschrijvingFreedom casket presented to Admiral of the Fleet Sir David Beatty, 1st Earl Beatty (1871-1936) by the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers 28 October 1919. Silver Freedom casket set with four enamel plaques painted with views of Leathersellers Hall and St Paul's Cathedral. The front of the casket has the Company's coat of arms in silver and enamel with the motto: 'SOLI DEO HONOR ET GLORIA' . On the back is a plaque inscribed: 'PRESENTED TO ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET THE RT HON EARL BEATTY GCB OM GCVO DSO ON ADMISSION TO THE HONORARY FREEDOM AND LIVERY OF THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF LEATHERSELLERS. TUESDAY 28TH OCTOBER 1919'. At the ends are engraved naval scenes. The domed lid is surmounted by an anchor and oval silver frame, which may originally have contained another enamel badge. The corners of the lid are decorated with crowned roses in enamel. There is an illuminated Freedom scroll inside the casket .
