omschrijving | Freedom casket presented to Admiral of the Fleet Sir David Beatty, 1st Earl Beatty (1871-1936) by the City of Dunfermline, 13 September 1919.
Silver-mounted oak Freedom casket, shaped as a strongbox, with a roof-shaped lid. Bound with silver straps, hinged at the front with padlocks. On the front is Beatty's coat of arms in silver and enamel decoration. There is thistle decoration on the end panels and lid, and the lid is surmounted by a silver panel with the Dunfermline arms in coloured enamels and the motto 'RUPES ESTO INACCESSA'.
A silver panel round the base is inscribed: 'PRESENTED TO ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET SIR DAVID BEATTY; GCB: GCVO. DSO ALONG WITH BURGESS TICKET ADMITTING HIM A BURGESS AND FREEMAN OF THE CITY AND ROYAL BURGH OF DUNFERMLINE 13TH SEPT 1919'.
