| omschrijving | A white dinner plate from a service used on board the 'Great Eastern' 1858. In the centre, a sepia transfer-print showing the 'Great Eastern' at sea, Britannia seated in the foreground with a trudent, shield, lion, anchor, helmet and caduceus, the whole surrounded by a laurel wreath, roses, shamrocks and thistles below. The edge of the plate is decorated with a border of stud-link chain-cable painted yellow. 'GREAT SHIP COMPANY LIMITED' is impressed on the base with the printed maker's mark.
