omschrijvingCelestial table globe. Astronomical details on the sphere include a labelled magnitude table, inside a cartouche. The Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds are labelled. Below the cartouche is an address to the reader on precession. A total of 26 stars and two star groups are named. The 48 Ptolemaic constellations and four of the non-Ptolemaic constellations are drawn. In addition, there are three of the southern constellations, as well as those of Plancius and all those of Hevelius. The erroneous star name of Acharnar also occurs on the 310 mm globe by Valk, numbered GLB0126. This error confirms an earlier opinion put forward that Eimmart used a pair of Valk globes as one of his sources. In addition to five sets of gores, to date 12 mounted copies of Eimmart's globes have been recorded in the literature, including three pairs, four celestial globes (including the present one) and two terrestrial globes. A facsimile edition of Eimmart's pair of globe gores was published in the 1960s by a Viennese dealer. For full details about the cartography and construction of this globe please refer to the related publication.
afmetingenOverall: 470 x 458 mm; Sphere diameter: 304 mm
