| omschrijving | Terrestrial and celestial miniature globe. Geographical details on the terrestrial sphere show a simple outline of the continents. The 'Antipoten of Nuremberg' are marked with 'Vancovens In' at the north-west coast of America. Tasmania is labelled 'Van Diemen Ld'. A total of four oceans are named. As Tasmania is drawn as an island, this suggests a date of construction after 1805.
Astronomical details on the celestial sphere show stars represented by different symbols, but a magnitude table is lacking. The 48 Ptolemaic constellations and three of the non-Ptolemaic constellations are drawn. Four of the southern constellations are drawn as well as those of Plancius, a few of those of Hevelius and six of Lacaille. However, not all the southern constellations are labelled.
A later edition has been described of this encased pair of globes, which was published by 'C.B.', Peter Bauer's son, Carl. The ecliptic is added to the terrestrial globe of this later edition. In the absence of other examples it has been presumed that Carl was the author of the globes signed by him but the present pair shows that it had been published before, by the father.
