De tekst luidt: To all to whom these presents shall come, greetings: In recognition of great and continuing contributions to the cause of history proudly preserved and valor well-honored, know ye that the Maritiem Museum Rotterdam with turret-ram Hr Ms Buffel is hereby recognized as a Member of the Historic Naval Ships Association, with all the rights, honors and privileges hereunto appertaining. In witness whereof, the Seal of the Association is affixed on this 29th day of January in the Year of Our Lord, 2001. Het dokument is ondertekend door Patrick J. Cunningham, directeur van het Buffalo Naval Park. Linksonder is een ronde vergulde sticker met twee lintjes in rood, wit en blauw geplakt. Op de sticker staat vermeld: Historic Naval Ships Association - Corporate - aug. 17. 1989 - Maryland
